Baby Rig Freshens the Sound at the Fresher's Ball |
Cirencester College's Fresher's Ball is an annual welcome to the new students. This year they called on their local sound crew at Scalable Sound Systems to power the live bands tent. After a site survey earlier in the week, we ascertained that there was insufficient power supply at the premises to power the full size rig. There was no choice, therefore, but to see what could be done with the baby of the rigs, the Turbosound TMS-2 rig. With a pair of TMS-2s per side, it's hardly a quiet system, but as perfectionists, we wanted to make sure. At Scalable Sound we like to make sure the vocals are sparkling, clear and legible, pure and simple, and we wanted the rig to be as tuned in as it could be to reach this goal. A relatively small rig combined with an all rock line-up can make it difficult to be both clear and loud, but the system excelled. The bands were rocking the tent all night with nice clear vocals and transient punch for all the participants in the tent. In addition, we took out our newly purchased Turbosound TFM-212 wedges which provided pin-sharp foldback onto the stage. We will be investing more in these over time...
